30 / 04 / 07
Due to numerous problems with several of the films, the Underground Spirit: Short Films II DVD has been abandoned. Trying to replicate the massive content and quality of the first shorts DVD has proved extremely difficult with everything else going on at the moment and three of the compilation's four films will not now be finished.
28 / 03 / 07
The next big event for Freefall Records will be the Bournemouth Live 2007 festival to be held throughout town between Thursday 28th June and Sunday lst July. Details of the exact dates and times of individual shows will be published soon and there will be a 2- disc live DVD featuring the best of the festival available from this site in August. After Bournemouth Live though, Freefall Records is ending. Over the past four years we have had some great times supporting original new music on the south coast but have never fully been able to create the community of musicians working together that we intended. The reasons for this are complex- but mainly there is still too much emphasis on money and competition and we have never really been able to change attitudes enough to create something as great as we wanted. However, we hope Bournemouth Live 2007 will be a worthy ending to the music side of Freefall. The last release will be at the beginning of September at the end of the summer.
27 / 03 / 07
Last night's launch night for the Underground Spirit III and Underground Spirit 4 compilation albums at Mr. Kyp's in Poole went well. Although the intended headliners, Free-Way were unable to play, Tetra Fever, Cabaret Rat and Safehouse all delivered outstanding live sets. We'd like to thank everyone who came to the gig and especially all those who bought CD's.
08 / 02 / 07
All details of the Underground Spirit III & 4 launch night are now confirmed. Both of our new compilation albums are released on Monday 26th March and will be available from this site and at the launch night. Free- Way, Tetra Fever, Cabaret Rat and Safehouse will all be playing. Tickets are £3.00 each and are available now from the bands, this site and from Mr. Kyp's. It's also worth getting there early for a chance to grab free copies of the compilations as a limited amount will be given away. The gig will also be being filmed for inclusion as an extra feature on the Bournemouth Live 2007 DVD later in the year.
12 / 01 / 07
The White Room live / documentary film, No Going Back, is released on an extras- packed DVD on Monday 22nd January. The band will be launching the DVD at a gig at The Green Room in Boscombe on Thursday 25th January.
11 / 01 / 07
The launch night for Underground Spirit III and Underground Spirit 4 is planned to be held at Mr. Kyp's in Poole on the release day- Monday 26th March. Up to five bands may be playing this launch, making it one of the biggest nights of live music we've ever organised at the area’s most prestigious venue. More details soon.
20 / 12 / 06
The next two Freefall Records compilation albums, Underground Spirit III and Underground Spirit 4,will both be released on the same day- Monday 26th March, 2007. The reason for both of them being released at once is that we represent so many bands now there's no way they could all fit a track each on one record. So each of these compilations will feature entirely different line- up's. Underground Spirit III will be more in the same vein as the first Underground Spirit- a rough around the edges, very limited edition" shorter album with an unglamorous sleeve featuring the newer, younger, more experimental and heavier bands. Underground Spirit 4 will be more like Underground Spirit II was- a showcase for the bigger, more professional and established artists with a longer track listing and a posh album cover and sleeve. Although the idea of Freefall Records has always been to include interesting recording artists at all levels of success and professionalism, this distinction has had to be made as we now represent quite a wide range- from people having band practices in their sheds to bands that are well on their way to being signed by bigger labels. The complete track listings will soon be up at www.myspace.com/freefallrecords.
25 / 11 / 06
It's been a while since the last news update because of how chaotically busy the last couple of months have been. So this is a bit of what's been happening: For anyone who doesn't already know, Remnants has had its release date put back (again) and will now have its limited UK theatrical run in late spring - early summer ‘07. Although this project has suffered numerous setbacks, this latest delay should help to make it a better film in the long run. The Underground Spirit II compilation album was released on October 6th and has had a phenomenal response. Thanks to the Bournemouth and Poole music and arts magazine Littel Bird for their feature on it. And thanks also to Safehouse and Cabaret Rat for playing the album's launch night at The Gander. The Underground Spirit: Short Films DVD was released on October 20th. Again, the launch night was held at The Gander with music from Apparently Nothing and Free- Way frontman Kris Oddy's superb solo set. Most of the films on the DVD were shown and went down well so thanks to everybody who came- especially those who bought a copy!
25 / 07 / 06
There have been some more great nights of live music recently. Despite a lot of problems with three bands having to pull out at the last minute, the Friday 21st July show at the Central went extremely well with Free- Way delivering an excellent all- night acoustic set. We would like to extend our thanks to them for playing the gig with less than 24 hours' notice and still getting loads of people down there- and especially for playing for so long. On Saturday 22nd July Street Light Fortune, Ten To Never, Roads and several other bands played the Sound Festival in Verwood. All of these bands went down extremely well with Street Light even ending up headlining the festival. Last night The Clams and Free- Way played acoustic sets at The Green Room.
22 / 06 / 06
Last night's Freefall Records- promoted gig at The Green Room in Boscombe was another success. White Room opened the night with a selection of mainly new tracks from their GetAway E.P. and also knocked out a cover of the Rolling Stones' Sympathy For The Devil which went down very well. They were followed by a surprise acoustic set from the Clams, who had been invited by Free- Way, who even cut their own set short to fit them in. Apparently Nothing- now with a more stable five man line up- also played mostly new stuff, having gone off in a heavier, more progressive direction recently. Free- Way drew the biggest crowd of the evening with an extremely powerful and energetic performance. Throughout the night there was a great atmosphere of mutual support between all of the bands and their fans. Also thanks to The Green Room for being able to fit everyone in.
19 / 06 / 06
The first pictures from Predator 3: On the Hunt have been released on www.myspace.com/freefallproductions. The unofficial short film sequel will be released as a free extra feature on the Underground Spirit: Short Films compilation DVD. Starring Rob Green and Sam Hughes and written and directed by George Hughes, Predator 3 continues on from Predator 2 (wisely ignoring Alien Vs. Predator) with a ruthless team of mercenaries attempting to capture a Predator that has escaped from a secret military research base. Predator 3 is probably the most violent, fast paced and action- orientated film made by Freefall Productions so far.
21 / 05 / 06
White Room's MySpace, www.myspace.com/whiteroom5, has been launched to coincide with the release of their new GetAway EP. Also, thanks to all who attended Cabaret Rat's gig at Mole's in Bath on Monday 15th- another superb performance. Cabaret Rat will also hopefully be playing Bournemouth soon. Sunsoma, The Dionysus, Safehouse and the Clams have recently joined Freefall Records.
29 / 04 / 06
The Freefall Productions and Freefall Records MySpaces should be up and running from today.
